To ensure your Smart Home gateway connects properly, follow these steps to configure your router for 2.4GHz:
1. Access Your Router’s Settings
-
Ensure your smartphone is connected to the router’s network.
-
Open a web browser and enter your router’s IP address (You can search for your ip adress by following the steps bellow). Typically it's 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1).
-
Log in using your administrator credentials (default login details are often found on the router’s label or in its manual).
2. Locate the Wireless Settings
-
Navigate to the Wi-Fi settings or Wireless configuration section.
-
If your router supports dual-band (both 2.4GHz and 5GHz), you will see separate settings for each frequency.
3. Enable and rename SSID of the 2.4GHz Band
-
Ensure that the 2.4GHz band is enabled.
- Rename the SSID of the 2.4GHz (Example : YOUR_WIFI_NAME_2GHZ => Different from the one in 5GHz)
-
You can also set the security mode to WPA2 (or WPA2/WPA3 mixed mode). The Gateway should prefer such configurations.
4. Save and Restart the Router
-
After making changes, click Save/Apply (restart the router if necessary).
-
Connect your phone to the 2.4GHz Wifi (YOUR_WIFI_NAME_2GHZ)
-
Restart your Smart Home configuration
By following these steps, your Smart Home gateway should be properly connected to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network, ensuring stable communication and configuration with your smart devices.
