How do I know if my electric radiator has a pilot wire function?

To check whether your electric radiator has a pilot wire function, follow these simple steps:

  1. Consult the manufacturer's manual:

The manual supplied with your radiator contains information on its functions, including the presence of the pilot wire. If you can't find the manual, you can search for the make and model of your radiator on the manufacturer's website to access the online documentation.

  2. Examine the connecting wire:

Look at the cable coming out of your radiator. Radiators  with pilot wires generally have 3 or 4 wires:

    - Blue: Neutral
    - Brown/Red: Phase
    - Black or Gray: Pilot wire (often used for control)
    - Green/Yellow: Earth (in some cases)

If you find a black or grey wire in addition to the other wires, your radiator is equipped with a pilot wire function. In this case, you can choose the type "Radiator with pilot wire" function in your Home + Control application.

  3. No pilot wire :

If your radiator has only 2 connecting wires (usually one blue and one brown/red), or 3 with the ground, it is not compatible with the pilot wire function. In this case, you can only control it on/off by selecting the "Radiator without pilot wire" type in your Home + Control application.

By following these simple steps, you can determine whether your electric radiator is pilot wire-compatible and how to configure it correctly in your application.
